Welcome to the MUN Ballroom and Latin Dance Club Website!

Winter 2022 Update:

Due to the ongoing omicron outbreaks and the upcomming lifting of restrictions, we will be remaining closed for the remainer of the winter semester. We will re-evaluate the conditions at a later date in hopes of re-opening for a spring/summer semester.

Stay safe & we hope to see you again soon.

Winter 2022 Update:

Due to the increase in omicron covid cases, we will be delaying the start of our winter semester until it is safe to resume.  Please check back in February.

We are happy to announce that we will be resuming our in-person classes this Fall!

We are keeping watch on the covid-19 outbreaks in central NL, while there does not seem to be an outbreak in eastern (yet) we need to still be very cautious.  We are asking you to use the online registration system if at all possible.

At the moment the in-person registration night is still scheduled for September 29th, but it could be rescheduled or cancelled at the last minute if cases of covid-19 start to increase in the eastern region.  We will try to send emails to everyone if that occurs, but you can also check this website before heading to the in-person registration.

Before attending please review MUN’s COVID daily self-assessment tool:
and be sure to follow MUN’s COVID guidelines:

We will be hosting a slightly shortened semester, with classes running for 8 weeks for 1 hour each. Classes will begin the first week of October, and will take place in the basement of St. Augustine’s church (across from the MUN Field House). The schedule is as follows:

Wednesdays (From October 6th to November 24th).

7-8 Argentine Tango level 1

8-9 Latin level 1

9-10 Latin level 2

Thursdays (from October 7th to December 2nd, except Remembrance Day on November 11th).

7-8 Latin level 3

8-9 Salsa level 1

9-10 Latin level 1

Students: $40 per 8-week class

Non-students: $60 per 8-week class

Note: If you took classes in Winter 2020 and did NOT receive a partial refund for the cancelled classes, you may be eligible for a discounted rate. Please contact us at bldc@mun.ca for details.

How to register

Online. To avoid a large in-person gathering, we have created an online registration form for this semester. Please use this form to sign up for classes by the end of September: bit.ly/bldcregistration. Please note that due to limited class sizes, your place in the class will not be confirmed until payment is received.   Be sure to include names and classes in any email transfers.

In-person.   Depending on Covid-19 cases, we will try to host an in-person registration night on Wednesday, September 29th, at the Landing (UC-3018 at MUN), from 7-9pm. Please note that class caps may fill up via the online registration system before in-person registration night, so if you want to ensure your spot, please use the online form in the link above to sign up.

COVID precautions. To keep our members, teachers, and volunteers safe, we are introducing some precautions for the upcoming semester. Most notably, classes will each be capped at 30 people (15 couples), masks will be required in class, and full vaccination is also required to attend class. There is no need to send us a vaccination record, but you may be asked to present it on the first day of classes. We are suspending our usual socials and formals for the time being, and will re-evaluate this for the Winter 2022 semester. Our usual ballroom/Latin classes will also focus on Latin dances, to allow easier distancing between pairs of dancers. We will also have hand sanitizer available in class. Policies may be revised throughout the semester as the situation evolves. If you would like more details, please contact us at bldc@mun.ca or by using the contact part of this website.

Please note due to MUN policies we will be asking for proof of vaccination at the registration night or first week of classes.  Some legitimate medical exemptions (found here on the Ontario government website: https://health.gov.on.ca/en/pro/programs/publichealth/coronavirus/docs/vaccine/medical_exemptions_to_vaccination.pdf) may be considered on a case by case basis with a medical note from a doctor.
